WELCOME to the 36th ANNUAL WASHINGTON STATE SUZUKI FESTIVAL!
October 9-10, 2015
This year’s Suzuki Association of Washington State (SAWS) Festival will once again be held at the beautiful Central Washington University campus in Ellensburg! Teacher workshops are on Friday, October 9, from 1-6 pm and the student festival is on Saturday, October 10, from 7:30 am-4:30 pm for piano, 7:30 am-5:30 pm for strings.
Student festival activities include master, group and enrichment classes, concerts and the usual friends, fun and musical frolic on the lawn. The focus of our Strings Festival this year is music history! Look forward to some innovative and fun enrichment classes including the history that surrounds our repertoire.
****Crucial information—please read and share with your students!****
Due to a last minute discovery of a conflict with the Music Building, we have made the following venue changes:
Registration for piano students will be in room 150 in the Music Building, beginning at 7:30 am. You will receive your name tag with schedule and welcoming remarks with a map as usual. All classes will take place in the Music Building except the Music & Movement classes, which will be held across the parking lot at the Wellington Event Center (The Wellington Event Center is behind the SURC and is attached to the new Bardo Dorm which is across the canal from the music building). All recital classes and the graduation concert will be in the Recital Hall.
The other very important change is the location of the violin and cello teacher workshops on Friday, October 9. They will be held in the First United Methodist Church at 210 N. Ruby Street in Ellensburg. Upper strings will use the sanctuary and cellos will be in the Fellowship Hall. The church is across the street from the Ellensburg Public Library in downtown Ellensburg.
AND PLEASE NOTE: The teacher’s lunch and annual SAWS membership meeting will also be held in the Wellington Event Center. (The Wellington Event Center is behind the SURC and is attached to the new Bardo Dorm which is across the canal from the Music Building).
